Welcome
Hancock County Revealed is an effort to provide current, relevant, and accurate information related to the issues and challenges faced by the people of Hancock County, every day. It is intended to provide information that updates in a dynamic fashion. It will assist individuals, organizations and funding partners as they make informed decisions about the programs and services critical to the citizens of Findlay and Hancock County. And, it will assure that all residents have the opportunity for a secure existence with respect and dignity.
How to Use this Site
Navigating the Website
- The "Hancock County Revealed" website is organized into six categories: population, education, income and employment, health, housing, and safety. When you click on anyone of these, you will see that each category has several “Indicator Profiles” along the left hand side of the page. Clicking on anyone of these indicators will provide an analysis and data displayed in tables and graphs. External links also exists for all of the data on this website and can be accessed by clicking on the Sources & Notes for the specific indicator you are interested in.
Selection of the Data
- “Hancock County Revealed” includes data from many sources. These sources may vary in a number of ways, including: 1) geography (metro area, county, sub-county); 2) frequency of data updates; and 3) terminology (race/ethnicity, age, gender, geography).
The six major categories were selected based on feedback from local leaders. Data indicators regarding each of these categories was selected based on three factors:
1. Data must come from a trusted, reliable source.
2. Data must be available for comparison at multiple levels (local, state, federal).
3. Data must be relevant to our community.
Age of the Data
- Users will notice differences across indicators in the age of the data. There are many reasons for this. Because of the time needed to collect, analyze, and disseminate data, “new” annual data sets may be from one to two years old. The various sources of data may also release their findings at different times throughout the year.
Accuracy of the Data
- The “Hancock County Revealed” partners have been very careful in collecting, analyzing, and presenting data from a variety of sources. We have selected what we believe to be the best and most applicable sources of data to be used on this site.
