In the last two years (2005-2007), the total number of households in Hancock County increased 5.7%.
In 2007, married couples constituted 66.45% of the total number of households; however, the 2005-2007 increase in this type of households was negligible at 0.10%.
In 2005-2007, there was a sharp increase in the number of single-female (with no husband present) households at 61.29%. In comparison, during the same period in the State of Ohio, single-female households grew less than 2%.
Households with senior householders (65 years and over) experienced a dramatic decrease at 23.71% (compared to 0.22% statewide). In 2007 in Hancock County, such households constituted only 7.9% of the total versus 10.1% in the State of Ohio.
In 2005-2007, the number of households with children under 18 years old also slightly decreased (-6.5%).
