Hancock County population is relatively homogeneous: 91.58% of residents identify as White/Caucasian and 8.42% of residents belong to other minority groups.

In 2007, Hispanic and Latino residents represented the largest minority group: 42.87% of total minority population and 3.61% of total Hancock County population. The second largest minority group – Asian or Pacific Islander – constituted 25.18% of the minority and 2.12% of the total Hancock County population.

All of the minority groups, except for American Indian and Alaska Native, demonstrated a significant increase in numbers in 2000-2007: 22.63% for Hispanic/Latino, 45.25% for African American, 78.82% for Asian and Pacific Islander. The number of American Indians and Alaska Natives in Hancock County declined 82.81%, while the number of White/Caucasian residents grew less than 1%.
