Compared to 2005, the number of property crimes in 2006 decreased on average ~10% across the groups except for larceny, which increased almost 35%.

In 2006, vehicle theft remains the leading crime in Hancock County (1,759 cases) followed by burglary (411). Arson was the most infrequent crime in 2006: 5 cases.

Hancock County crime statistics show few consistent trends from year to year. However, the overall trend in 2002-2006 shows noticeable increase across all property crime categories except for arson.
